Kaeo was split from Prachin Buri in 1993 and is an important
centre for trade between Thailand and Cambodia, primarily
through the border town of Aranyaprathet. |

ARANYAPRATHET
Aranyaprathet,
called " Aran " for short, is a traditional
border crossing point between Thailand and Cambodia located
255 km east of Bangkok. The border is home to a huge market
of Cambodian and Chinese produce, but while local traders
cross back and forth regularly the border is not open
to foreign travellers. |

TRAVEL
Train There
are only two trains per day to Aran from Hua Lumpong,
leaving at 6 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. The trip takes about five
hours.
Return trains leave Aran at 6:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., arriving
at Hua Lamphong at 11:50 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. |

The
train line from Hua Lamphong to Aran continues on all
the way to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Trains haven't gone
past Aran for about 20 years, but plans are underway to
reopen the line in the near future. |

Bus
Air-conditioned
and regular buses leave Morchit Northern Bus Terminal
every hour or two during the day until 6 p.m. |
